Charlie Sheen Undergoes Sex Addiction & Drug Addiction Treatment

February 9, 2011

Charlie Sheen’s issues with sex addiction and drug addiction are common fodder for sensationalist tabloids. The stories of destroyed hotel rooms, porn stars, and drunken fights with his ex-wives have led Sheen to decide to voluntarily choose in-home drug and alcohol rehab. As the therapies and treatments are brought to him, it seems that Sheen is making progress. According to reports, the actor has recently texted a number of his favorite call girls to let them know that he will no longer be, um, investing in their services.

According to The Sun, one such text read: “Please lose the number, we are closed. Please drive through,” while another said, “Right now we are on lockdown.”

A woman claiming to be Sheen’s madam said that he has ordered hundreds of girls from her over the last four years.

Fans of Sheen’s NBC comedy, Two And A Half Men, may be interested to know that filming has been suspended pending Sheen’s return from treatment.

Letting Go of the Past to Move Forward in Recovery

While many are laughing at the idea of anyone texting “buh-bye” messages to numerous prostitutes, strippers and porn starts in the greater LA area as a healing step in treatment, it’s something that everyone who goes to recovery will have to do at some point. It may not be prostitutes -though, it might be if sex addiction is an issue -but old connections or dealers who provided you with drugs before you went into treatment might be on your “please lose this number” list. For some, it might be ending relationships with people who use heavily or cause severe stress in your life. Watching others use and being in stressful situations are common triggers for relapse, and one of the best ways to avoid relapse is to avoid triggering situations.

Finding New Things to Replace the Old in Recovery

Just like you replaced the negative action of using drugs and alcohol to deal with uncomfortable feelings, you can replace those who put you in triggering situations with new people who will be supportive of your recovery. It takes time to build real friendships or to meet a new partner, but 12-step meetings and group therapy sessions are excellent places to build a peer network that will sustain you as you struggle through staying clean and sober in daily life. Some drug rehabs also offer alumni groups for graduates of their program, allowing you to maintain contact with the counselors who were instrumental in your alcohol addiction treatment and the peers you bonded with.

Finding Drug Rehab That Offers Aftercare Services

Some drug rehabs offer more than just alumni groups -they offer full service aftercare services like sober living. At a sober living facility, your home will be drug-free just like drug rehab. Your roommates will also be supportive of your recovery and counselors will be onsite at all times to assist you as you begin the process of transitioning back into day-to-day life.

If you would like to find a drug rehab that can provide you with aftercare options you need, contact us at the phone number listed above today.
