The Importance of Detox
Most people, due to the length and severity of use, develop a physical and psychological dependency on their drug of choice (including alcohol).When an individual abruptly discontinues their use, they will begin to experience the onset of symptoms associated with withdrawal. These initial symptoms may include sweats, cramping, constipation and anxiety or can be as medically complex as seizures, convulsions and delirium tremors. The time a person spends in detox is contingent upon which substances they have been abusing, the amounts they have been using, the length of time they have been taking them, as well as, any medical/psychiatric problems present.

Individuals participating in detoxification at Michael's House, do so in a comfortable, residential setting, and are usually able to participate in counseling and enjoy the company of their peers. Should individuals require emergent medical attention, Palm Springs has several renowned hospitals within a few minutes of the facility.
