Job Description
Full Time and Part Time Positions Available:
The Canyon at Peace Park located in Malibu, CA is currently seeking Resident Counselors to add to our extraordinary clinical team working with individuals entering treatment to address co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.
We are seeking counselors with a strong desire and demonstrated ability to have a high skill level of engagement with clients and familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques and strategies. Candidates will be expected to conduct individual sessions with clients facilitating treatment work as directed by a Primary Therapist. Candidates must be skilled in client crisis de-escalation, milieu supervision, multi-tasking, and have the ability and willingness to take charge of all activities on shift.
The Canyon provides integrated residential treatment to persons with co-occurring conditions and offers a complete continuum of care that includes many treatment options, services, and learning tools that allow each client to build a lasting foundation of recovery. Job Requirements
Qualifications Required for Masters Level Resident Counselors
$18 - $20 per hour
Masters degree in Psychology or Social Work with a minimum of 1 year experience working in a residential treatment center or group home setting or intensive outpatient or equivalent setting with chemical dependency and/or mental health population.
Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field with a minimum of 4 years experience working in a residential treatment center or group home setting or intensive outpatient or equivalent setting with chemical dependency and/or mental health population.
If candidate is not a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker they must be certified by one of the California ADP approved certifying organizations (CAADAC, CAADE, etc.)
Qualifications Required for Entry Level Resident Counselors
$14 - $16 per hour
Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field with a minimum of 1 year experience working in a residential treatment center or group home setting or intensive outpatient or equivalent setting with chemical dependency and/or mental health population.
Drug and Alcohol Studies related certification (AA degree or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years experience working in a residential treatment center or group home setting or intensive outpatient or equivalent setting with chemical dependency and/or mental health population.
All candidates must be registered with and working towards certification with one of the California ADP approved certifying organizations (CAADAC, CAADE, etc.)
