Residential Opiate Detox
Before you can truly begin the process of healing from opiate addiction, you must first stabilize physically through a residential opiate detox program. Whether you opt for a long-term medicated opiate detox or a short-term, “cold turkey” opiate detox, a residential program will provide you with the medical and psychotherapeutic support you need to make a solid effort in breaking free from heroin and/ or opiate painkillers.
Michael’s House offers two different programs for those who are opiate addicts. One is a residential opiate detox and addiction treatment program and the other offers long-term supported sober living for recovering addicts who have successfully completed an opiate rehab program. Residential Opiate Detox: Medications
There are a number of medications that are FDA-approved for the treatment of opiate detox in a residential or outpatient setting. The gold standard has always been methadone. This drug is taken once daily in the form of a liquid and in the presence of a healthcare provider. This helps stave off the withdrawal symptoms associated with opiate detox and allows you to step down, milligram by milligram, and thus avoid the an intense onset of physical illness.
