Medical Director

Barbara Lampert, MD

Barbara Lampert is originally from New York City. She loves to travel and lived in Florence, Italy, before she started medical school in Brooklyn. She still orchestrates new adventures (and is studying Italian again) and got to work with the recovery community in Manila last year and also recently practiced addiction psychiatry in Portland, Maine, and Santa Cruz, California. She’s board certified in psychiatry and has been a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine since 2011. She’s been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and EMDR and is certified in psychopharmacology. She completed her internship at Georgetown and her residency at UCLA, then stayed on in Los Angeles, working with the most exceptional psychopharmacologists, psychologists and researchers in the entire field of psychiatry. She went to New Mexico and lived in Santa Fe for nearly 20 years, where she taught at the University of New Mexico, joined a DBT consultation team in Santa Fe, and learned about mindfulness and the true miracle that it is. She returned to California to work at Michael’s House and learn about addiction. She’s grateful for the opportunity to immerse herself in this vast subject with marvelous colleagues and co-workers, and she brings an old and familiar passion to the challenge. And, she has a black little dog named Kiwi who is thrilled to be home at last.
