Barry Mannion, PsyD
Born in Queens, New York, and raised on Long Island, Barry Mannion took the helm at Michael’s House in March 2018. He holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from Ryokan College and a master’s degree in education (with a concentration in school counseling/school psychology) from California State Dominquez Hills. Mannion says he was drawn to Michael’s House by the opportunity to work with a great team and a program that has an excellent reputation.
Past experience includes roles as executive director, COO, vice president and therapist in both residential and outpatient settings. Mannion’s own recovery played a role in his decision to pursue a career in the treatment field in the first place. He always had an interest in helping people and was presented with the opportunity to work as a counselor at a residential treatment center when he was 10 years sober. Mannion found that he really enjoyed helping people in early recovery and understanding treatment, and he was fortunate to have opportunities to step into leadership roles and grow. Over the years, he also expanded his educational background to further support his work with both clients and staff.
When not working, Mannion enjoys sporting events, live music, movies and working out.
